Electric Cars:
« Better Place »
"Better Place Israel", which is deploying the world’s first nationwide network for charging electric vehicles. The electricity needed will be generated by renewable energy from solar arrays and wind farms. Denmark and Israel have enacted policies, which create a tax differential between zero-emission vehicles and traditional cars, to accelerate the transition to electric cars. Better Place plans to deploy the infrastructure on a country-by-country basis with initial deployments beginning in 2010 and commercial sales beginning in 2012.
See the Better Place's website.

Building

Passiv House
The passive house concept is a comprehensive approach to cost-efficient, high quality, healthy and sustainable construction. The energy requirement for heating is lower than 10 to 20 kWh/(m²a) (depending on climate).

Energy

The DESERTEC Concept describes the perspective of a sustainable supply of electricity for Europe (EU), the Middle East (ME) and North Africa (NA) up to the year 2050. It shows that a transition to competitive, secure and compatible supply is possible using renewable energy sources and efficiency gains, and fossil fuels as backup for balancing power. A close cooperation between EU and MENA for market introduction of renewable energy and interconnection of electricity grids by high-voltage direct-current transmission is necessary.

Sweden:
The two reports by the Swedish NGO Naturskyddsföreningen shows that it is possible to reduce the energy consume in Sweden about 50% in 2030 (2008 400 TWh - 2030 210 TWh).
